How It Started
From a Night Market to a Movement
It started at a vintage shop in Bangkok's Train Night Market — informal jams that grew into a community. The name "underground" stuck because bluegrass is virtually unknown in Thailand. That felt right.
From rooftop jams during COVID to the Bluegrass Brewery Project — touring Bangkok's craft breweries — to hosting online jams with musicians worldwide, the community kept growing. Thailand's position as a travel hub means world-class players regularly pass through and sit in.
In 2024, we hosted the first South Eastern Old Time Gathering — Bangkok's first festival dedicated to bluegrass, old-time, and Irish trad. The music keeps finding new people. That's the whole point.
